Swaledale and Wensleydale are a hive of activity throughout the year; Swaledale hosts its own music and art festival each June, Richmond sees the live music weekend in August and the walking & book festival in September. Middleham in Wensleydale opens its stable doors to the public each Good Friday, Leyburn hosts The Dales Festival of Food & Drink each May (always busy) to name a few events. A great day out for all ages is guaranteed in The Yorkshire Dales, whatever the weather!
Richmond, just 3 miles away, is the gateway to Swaledale and boosts an authentic Georgian theatre, 11th century Norman Castle, cobbled market place and Georgian streets make it surely worth a look. The old Station now offers a range of small shops selling local produce from bread to beer and offers 2 cinema screens and Seasons Restaurant, definitely recommended!
Swaledale offers plenty of outdoor activities such as fell walking, horse riding and mountain biking, art galleries, museums and craft centres.
Wensleydale also offers a wealth of activities and places to visit from Leyburn’s market place shops; Serendipity and The Teapottery at Leyburn Business Park to Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, you are guaranteed a wonderful day out.
